My job consisted of two key parts; the logistics of organising the event, and marketing of the events.
Marketing skills acquired
• Fully competent in writing and editing wording for an invitation as well as creating all other invitation elements on Adestra
• Ability to proof-read invitations, event literature and seating booklets
• Monitor event ticket sales and implement marketing strategies in order to maximise both attendance and revenue
• Created marketing banners and adverts for the event, posting them online and in print Sourcing new contacts and utilising existing relationships to get more awards entries event upon event increase ticket sales
• Able to create social media content such as Snapchat filters, gifs and tweetable images to maximise social media presence at events and on the lead up to events
Skills acquired in logistics/organising
• Negotiation with suppliers to ensure the best, most correct and most cost-effective supplies for each event
• Negotiating contra deals and writing up the documents
• Ability project manage several large events at one time, working to different deadlines Liaising with sponsors and committees in a professional manner to ensure event briefs and sponsor requirements are met
• Come up with solutions for any issues that arise on the event day with a calm and relaxed manner
• Able to cope with meeting all deadlines with limited time in the office each week due to event delivery and travel
• Used my event experience to deliver an inaugural awards dinner successfully; the event sold out and exceeded financial expectations, and received excellent feedback from attendees. Due to this success, the event now occurs annually
• Ability to write scripts and copy for events
• Managing junior members of the team and overseeing events as the senior event manager
• Managing audio-visual teams during rehearsals
• Managing comperes, entertainment and comedians during rehearsals and the events ensuring they are delivered without any issues
• Managing venue staff in order to ensure they meet strict timings and high standards we expect
• Additionally, I asked for the responsibility of selecting and developing relationships with charities to support for our awards dinners. This has given me the ability to speak to a wide range of companies and to learn how to come up with practical solutions to ensure the maximum money is raised per event
• I have learnt the additional skill of editing videos for maximum impact on the event night
